President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Peregoodoff has more than 25 years of mining and petroleum industry experience, including the last five years in senior management positions with Peregrine Diamonds. Mr. Peregoodoff spent 18 years with BHP Billiton, where from 2008 to 2011 he was Vice President, Early Stage Exploration and was accountable for global early-stage exploration activities across all commodities. He was a member of the Minerals Exploration Executive Committee that set long-term strategy and direction for BHP Billiton's Mineral Exploration division. Prior to this he held several senior roles in BHP Billiton's exploration division in commercial, operational and technical capacities, and has extensive global experience. He also is a director of Computational Geoscience Inc., a private service company providing geoscientific interpretation services to the oil and gas and mining industries. Mr. Peregoodoff obtained a BSc. in Geophysics from the University of Calgary.
Chief Financial Officer As Kaizen's Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Garratt, CPA, CA, oversees all finance, accounting, forecasting, budgeting, treasury, tax and corporate insurance functions. Mr. Garratt also directs all of the company's financial activities and advises and assists the CEO in meeting or exceeding the overall financial and strategic objectives of Kaizen.
Mr. Garratt has 18 years of experience in financial roles, including eight years at Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd., an international mining company that owns a 66% interest in the Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold mine in Mongolia, where his last position was Vice President and Corporate Controller. Prior to joining Turquoise Hill Resources, he spent more than six years in Deloitte LLP's audit practice focusing on servicing mining clients. Mr. Garratt holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geological Engineering from the University of British Columbia.
Chief Operating Officer Mr. Gibson, a geoscientist, is the Chief Operating Officer of Kaizen. He holds a similar position with High Power Exploration Inc. (HPX), Kaizen's parent company. He joined HPX in 2011 as the company's founding Chief Executive Officer and was instrumental in the formation of Kaizen Discovery in 2013, through the corporate reorganization of Concordia Resource, and HPX's strategic partnership with Cordoba Minerals. Before joining HPX, Mr. Gibson worked with Anglo American, and was the founder of a geophysical service company focused on managing seismic surveys for the mining industry.
Mr. Gibson has more than 26 years of wide-ranging experience as a geoscientist and manager in the natural resources sector.
Vice President, Exploration Mr. Zulliger, who is based in Argentina, specializes in exploration of porphyry copper and epithermal systems in South America's high-Andes region. As an exploration geologist, Mr. Zulliger has more than 22 years of experience in mineral exploration, project generation, and project evaluation in the Americas, Southeast Asia, Russia, and Mongolia. Mr. Zulliger was most recently Chief Geologist, Exploration, South America, for Antofagasta Minerals SA. He previously was Principal Geoscientist for BHP Billiton Minerals Exploration, and Chief Geologist for Resolution Copper. Mr. Zulliger also has worked with Rio Tinto Mining and Exploration, and with Osisko Mining. He obtained a B.Sc. in Geology from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba in Argentina.
Executive Vice President, Asia Finance Nakaba Chimura, based in Tokyo, Japan, is responsible for managing various Asia-focused strategic initiatives for Kaizen. He also assists with access to Asian capital markets and the identification of potential investment opportunities. Mr. Chimura currently assists with financings and project development for Ivanhoe Mines and GoviEx Uranium.
He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Meiji University and a Master of Arts degree from American University in Washington, D.C.
