Interim President and Chief Executive Officer Eric Finlayson is President of High Power Exploration (HPX), an affiliate of Kaizen's majority shareholder, HPX TechCo Inc. HPX is a private, metals-focused exploration company deploying proprietary geophysical technologies to rapidly evaluate buried mineral targets. Prior to joining HPX in 2013, Mr. Finlayson spent 24 years with Rio Tinto, including five years as Rio's Global Head of Exploration. He was Interim CEO for Kaizen Discovery from March 2016 until January 2017 and appointed to Kaizen's Audit Committee in February 2019.
Chief Financial Officer Mr. Shenton, CPA, CGA, has more than 30 years of mining industry experience, including being Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Peregrine Diamonds since 2006. He also served as CFO for Peregrine Metals for five years, until that company was sold in 2011. Mr. Shenton has worked with the Ivanhoe group of companies since November 1989. During this time, he has served as CFO for Ivanhoe Nickel & Platinum, Jinshan Gold Mines, and Asia Gold, and held the position of Controller with Diamond Fields Resources, DiamondWorks, and Ivanhoe Mines. In addition, Mr. Shenton is Vice President and Director of Ivanhoe Capital Corporation.
Chief Operating Officer Mr. Gibson, a geoscientist, is the Chief Operating Officer of Kaizen Discovery. He holds a similar position with High Power Exploration Inc. (HPX), Kaizen's majority shareholder, and Cordoba Minerals. Mr. Gibson joined HPX in 2011 as the company's founding Executive and was instrumental in the formation of Kaizen Discovery in 2013 and HPX's strategic partnership with Cordoba Minerals in 2015. Before joining HPX, Mr. Gibson worked with Anglo American, and was the founder of a geophysical service company focused on managing seismic surveys for the mining industry.
Mr. Gibson has more than 27 years of wide-ranging experience as a geoscientist and manager in the natural resources sector.
Vice President, Exploration Mr. Zulliger, who is based in Argentina, specializes in exploration of porphyry copper and epithermal systems in South America's high-Andes region. As an exploration geologist, Mr. Zulliger has more than 22 years of experience in mineral exploration, project generation, and project evaluation in the Americas, Southeast Asia, Russia, and Mongolia. Mr. Zulliger was most recently Chief Geologist, Exploration, South America, for Antofagasta Minerals SA. He previously was Principal Geoscientist for BHP Billiton Minerals Exploration, and Chief Geologist for Resolution Copper. Mr. Zulliger also has worked with Rio Tinto Mining and Exploration, and with Osisko Mining. He obtained a B.Sc. in Geology from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba in Argentina.
